Aaron Koblin

I thought his art was pretty interesting. Honestly, I don't find VR as amazing as it was at first, having used a VR headset many times. Kudos to him for making a living out of it though! Like that's amazing! Especially being as young as he is. I really liked the Johnny Cash video! I admire Cash's work and it was super interesting to see Koblin tackle it with such an art form.

Class Reflection

When I signed up for this class, I honestly didn’t know what to expect. Admittedly, this class is not what I expected, but in a good way. It made me open my creative eye a little more than usual, especially during the self portrait assignment. I never thought I would ever have a chance to make one, but I am so glad I had the opportunity. This class also pushed me out of my comfort zone a little. I am not one to attend big events much less socialize outside of a classroom honestly. Luckily for me, Cucalorus was required! Yay, big events! Honestly, I had a lot of fun. I’m so glad I went. I felt like I grew a little as a filmmaker. I usually stick straight to editing, so to be the one behind the camera as well as in front of it provided an entirely different perspective on filmmaking in my book, and I can still say, I don’t like it. I’m still pretty set on post, but I do appreciate it more than before, as silly as that may sound. Also, shooting on actual film is hard and I admire pe...

Martha Colburn

What an interesting experience this presentation was! I can honestly say nothing could have prepared me for Pug Adventures . As amazing as the animation was, I was shocked at the turn it took. Colburn had such a unique style with animation. As an animation lover myself, I fairly enjoyed this presentation and I definitely would like to look up more of her work. I dig quirky animation.

Marlon Riggs

Marlon Riggs was a very interesting filmmaker. I really enjoyed the snapping education segment. I never knew how many ways one could snap! That was awesome. I admire the fact that his films dealt with representations of race and sexuality in America, especially considering where and how he was raised.

Self Portrait - Reflection

The self-portrait assignment was an experience. I have to say, I did enjoy the project a lot. I felt as though I was truly able to showcase myself within this film. I fairly enjoyed the planning and editing process of the assignment but filming it and actually pulling the project together was challenging. I had specific costumes I wanted my actors to be and certain props as well, so attempting to get everyone on board and finding said stuff set the filming time back. That was another huge process I feel as though I learned rather quickly… time management. I realized my time management could sue some sprucing up. As stated in class, my biggest concern was the cinematography showcased in the film. I have worked with a camera before, but it was all mock practice. I had a lot of insecurities about showing my film to the class, to be honest. I know it was a project of one’s self, so anything was game, but for some reason, I could not shake the feeling of doing the project wrong. By havi...

Group Installation

Our original idea was to do something horror related, but since then, it has evolved into the idea of anxiety. We plan to somehow merge the two somehow make individuals experience some form of anxiety when they get to our installation, whether it be to scare them or something of that nature. As for projection, as of right now, we would like to project on either girls in white dresses/nightgowns or some kind of white sheet set up. We are still fine tuning the installation itself, but that is our general idea. I believe live music is what we’re aiming for, so I will possibly be playing an instrument if we continue down that route. Austin has dubbed me “producer”, so I get to do that.

Self Portrait - Revised

I still plan to keep my original idea regarding the “letter” to some people from my childhood. I plan to keep the white turning into black aspect as well, although I did like the idea of dressing up like Bowie. I plan to paint the Aladdin Sane lightning bold across my face but as for clothes, I’m not quite sure how to go about that. He wore some wonky stuff way back then and finding anything remotely close to that is a whole extra project itself! As for my soundscape, I’ve recently come across a new instrument and I may utilize it a little in such. I want to go for a creepy like soundscape but I’m not sure how well it’ll fit into the film itself. I really just plan on experimenting with a lot of sounds and clips and seeing what works best or what gets my message across best.
